so I suppose the only way to really know if 1949 is not as good as 1960 would be to test to alloys. I still say it was just an age related reality and not the metals though. If the metalurgy was poor the POwer Wagon (or many other vehicles in the US) would not have had any lasting reputation of strength and quality. corners were not being cut by bean counters in the auto industry yet. So high quality metals were the order of the day for most hte car makers. well not jeep of course, haha
