checked out a PW today, 2 questions

Guys: I'm new hear but been looking for a PW for a while and reading even longer. I looked at 1 '56 today that looked great, but a few things scared me. The owner was very honest, and said the engine over heated when he drove it hard. It also had a slight hesitation under load, even though he rebuilt the carb and installed a new fuel pump. He also put a new water pump in, new head gasket, and radiator core. I'm worried he's chasing something bigger.

Lastly, when you accelerated above a certain RPM the trans sounded like something was going to come loose. Owner said it was like that since he had it.

The body, frame and wiring looked great for sure.
