I don't know if you check in with the Cummins/Dodge sites but if you do you probably have already read or know this stuff. You not only want but NEED a fuel pressure gauge on a VP44 rig. No or low fuel pressure is known to be very detrimental to the IP. Since you say you have already upgraded the fuel system it sounds like you already know about it. I will tell you the OEM Carter pump is junk. I used it in the 60's, was junk then and still junk but that is just MHO and experience.

If you have an auto upping the power very much (over 50-75 horses) will eventually cost you a stock tranny unless you are very conservative. I have an untapped Edge comp on mine and it is not tapped mainly because of the tranny. I do have a Dunrite valve body which is a big help but with more power from the tap a better convertor is a must. I do drive it pretty easy.
