I would look for a 97 or early 98 12 valve. That would get you the newest year of the inline bosch mechanical pump and if you get the manual the nv4500 is not a bad transmission. I have seen a bus application with the inline pump and an allison that might be the best transmission for an automatic but a bus is tough on an engine and transmission so you have to plan a rebuild. I think the 97-98 would have a 47re automatic which is still not a bad transmission if you aren't planning to modify the engine extensively.
