I guess, “Prejudice” will be an emotion that will also live in infamy. There have been countless injustices through out history by Governments or dictators that have brought atrocities and suffering to its peoples, as we see it on the news fairly often. Not all persons under a Government or dictator support its actions and suffering inflicted on its people or others. Look at us in 1864, the Civil War, and yes, Prejudice is alive and well over a hundred years later. There are the Black and White issues, the North and South issues that people still deal with today – Crazy after all this time!

It’s a little difficult for us to change our view of events, when hatred is passed from generation to generation, and our emotions, as powerful as they are, tend to overcome rational thought and behavior. We’re quick to join a “cause”, or get on the “band wagon” because our friends are doing it, or the peer pressure is so great, we can’t maintain our individuality. We all have the right to defend ourselves and rightly so, when harm is the intended objective. We have had, and will continue to, defend ourselves stateside and abroad, as necessary, for a right and justly cause.

I’ve met many Japanese peoples and they have been very nice individuals, and actually some of the nicest folks I’ve met. My Dad fought in the South Pacific in WWII, yet he never made the race an issue. He had a job to do for his Government; he did, and was lucky enough to come home. He understood the role of Governments/dictators in conflicts and that their peoples may not necessarily agree with what they do.

After Germany fell, and realizing the truth, the majority of its people were embarrassed by what its Government did to the Jewish race. As the old saying goes “to protect the truth, you surround it by lies” is a true statement. It may be prudent for us to look at leaders as the “culprits” behind opportunities and desires that lead a nation to victory or defeat. It’s been a few generations since the Civil War and the generation of WWII. Let us remember, but not relive it.

Brain teaser! Starting at 100, take the alphabet and associate it with a sequential number. For example, 100=A, 101=B and do this until you reach Z which will be 126. Spell Hitler and add the numbers. He is one, but not the one!
