Been in our paper the past week that the US Postal service is scaling back because it's losing money. They are planning to close the Dayton, Ohio sorting center and move it all to Columbus. Close to 400 people out of a job. Across the board they say deliveries will be slower to ALL areas.

Also talking about quitting Saturday deliveries and maybe even 4 day delivery. I understand people paying bills online and such have cut into their profits but there are a few things that just blow me away.

How on earth can upstart companies Like UPS and FedEX make a profit on delivering something to your door(cheaper in price on bigger stuff) and the postal service can't when THEY ARE ALLREADY COMING THERE. To muddle it up even more. I constantly see UPS delievring AND picking up stuff from my local post office as the use EACH OTHERS transports on packages.

I'm assuming they'll say wage/retirements and production quotas but maybe if they would bite the bullet like the rest of the US has they would be in line. I know this may be harsh if any of you are Postal workers but I think the economy SHOULD effect everyone the same.

I know anything the government has their hands in always gets messed up but this one amazes me. Sorry for the rant. I feel better now ;)
