Marty is right. Time, time and more time. Your final paint will be only as good as the work underneath it. Look at vehicles at shows. Some are like mirrors others are less than that with minor haze or surface roughness. That is because your final coat will follow any imperfection in the base coats. I have see so many cars that were so close. All they would have had to do is sand the base coat just a litte more to get rid of some surface roughness. On my carryall I spent 100 hours sanding the high build primer on the body alone. I ended up sanding 75% + of the high build primer off as I smoothed the surface keeping it to a minimal thickness but still filling the imperfections. Then came a final sealing coat of DP40 and then the final color. If you do it right there is litte need to wet sand or polish the color coat as it so smooth because of the work on the base paint layers.
