Betweeen Friday and yesterday put in 27 hours. Pulled the engine, cleaned all the oil muck off of it, replaced the rear main seal, front main seal, 2 cam seals, resealed the oil pump, replaced the water pump, all of the timing belt pulleys, tensioner and belt. Replaced both head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, spark plug tube seals, plugs and wires. Also a front axle shaft, both front sway bar links and front brakes.
The motor mount nuts are up in a little pocket in the bottom of a crossmember. One came off fine but the other was rusted. A 6 point socket succeded in rounding it off nicely. I tried a socket for gripping a rounded nut and even that didnt work. No way to get to it in its pocket. I used the acetylene torch to very carefully burn the nut off. When I got the engine out, I pulled the motor mount and put it in the sandblaster cabinet and sandblasted the stud I had cut the nut off of. Took it out and was able to spin a nut on by hand all the way. What a relief not to have to make a 20 mile each way trip to the dealer for a new mount! I will often practice cutting nuts off bolts when cutting up Power Wagons, the practice paid off!
Anyway, glad its done.
Tim
