I sure like 12 volts for spinning a 6 volt starter myself. Depending on how original you want to be, since it's half way 12 volts already, you might want to consider converting the rest in that direction. Light bulbs are easy to change out. The only problem is usually the gas gauge, which has usually already been burned up by somebody putting 12 volts on it without installing a suitable reducer. If it hasn't don't be the one to do it.
