For you guys who have made your own flatbeds, are there some rules of thumb to go by in doing so? For example:
Should the frame rails extend to just behind the end of the flatbed, or can you have say 12" of overhang?
What are the size of the steel C channels that makes up the cross members and how close are their spacing?
If a wood bed is selected then how is it bolted down...like the flatfender power wagon?
I am starting to think about what I will eventually put on the W500 PG I have. I would like a flat bed for it about 12 feet long, with white oak boards and a steel border edge all around the sides and end, so that the boards are recessed flush to the steel.
