To each his own...but have you thought about steel diamond plate? It seldom dents unless you really put a whallop on it. Once it is in place, you can have it given the spray liner treatment and you're good for a lifetime of real use. A tossed stick of fresh cut firewood will leave a palm-sized dent in aluminum, especially if you go with the thinner sheet.
