By "torrid times" I assume you're referring to the FBI raid, which wasn't really about prostitution, since that's not a federal offense, but rather about the gambling that was going on in the same houses. It was before my time, but as I understand it the Sheriff took the fall for everyone else, since of course all the politicians were in on it. I'm told that the gals on Cedar Street even had an annual "politician appreciation day" when everything was on the house or the local muckymucks.
