Why 2 Power Boosters

On my 69 W300 there are 2 boosters one between the fire wall and the master cylinder and one under the truck. I have seen both types but any reason why 2 on the same truck they both are connected to a vac line with a tee.
I am thinking of removing the one under the truck but 1st need a explanation, if there is one, why 2 boosters
