Kind of a bummer for the seller. And then, you wonder if there weren't other parts to the story that you never heard.
About 30 years ago I contacted a property owner about an old Jeep wagon with a winch on it. He agreed to sell it to me, and I was to go remove it the following Sat. and send him the money. When I went to remove the winch, I took along a friend to help. When we got there, the winch was gone. I was sure glad I had my friend with me. Strange thing is, I never was able to contact the owner of the property again.
