Jerry, I just read your post down below. I used an early ('68 or so) Carter BBD. It took a few different designs to come up with the best/simplest adapter. The first prototype was actually over 4" tall, using PVC board. It ran like a charm, but I knew it wouldn't take the heat of the engine for long. Ideally, a 2" thick piece of aluminum would be better than what I used, but take a lot more time and precision to work. You'd have more gradual contours going from oval to round that way. But mine works just fine!!
