I finally got back in the '50 today, after two months of driving the wife-mobile every day. Here's what I eventually ended up doing to it: electric fan, electric fuel pump, electronic distributor conversion, 90 amp Dodge alternator, milled the head .060, and added a two-barrel Carter carb. The result? About 20 horsepower and no more of the notorious six-cylinder miss. Was it worth it? To me, absolutely. I can now say each was an improvement. My advice to those wanting a little more out of their flathead, though, is to skip the electric fan and electric fuel pump. They're the most expense-versus-benefit of the entire lot. For the others, I'd almost tell everyone to do it for the improvements they make. Granted, the carb still needs tweaked (it's COLD natured now), but anyway...

I have a problem. A big problem. I had contacted Ray a few times about some of his parts (V8 conversion, NP435 lever bracket, water pump, steering box mount, center driveshaft yoke flange, flywheel spacer, etcetera), but he took his time getting back to me (I know he's very busy- I'm not complaining), and when he would finally tell me what he had and the prices, I no longer had the money. Now that he's leaving next week, he doesn't have time to do them for me. I'm REALLY wanting to put my built-strictly-for-my-truck 360 in there in the next month or two. I don't need pedals or disc brakes. I just need the other parts to make it work. Do any of you fellows have any one piece, pieces, or advice on how I can pull it off without Ray? I really don't want to rig it in there or do something drastic. What are my options?
