I would probably go with metal if it were me. Just less maintenance and it would help make it a little more difficult for mice to get in. I would also make an “inspection pit” a top priority in the design, it’s cheaper than a hydraulic lift. I would make it 90% of the garage length, 3 to 3.5 feet wide. I would install lights that would shine on the vehicle’s underside, and where you can walk down in and out at both ends, and recessed the length to except 2x12's to cover it when not in use. It makes working underneath a vehicle so much easier.
