So today was a pretty bad day for my truck... It's the second time i've driven my '49 B-1 to school this year, and this morning I watched it fry my dash wires. After looking into the situation, it turns out that my windshield crank shorted out to the back of my ignition switch. Perhaps that would explain the loads of smoke pouring out of my dash, and the roasted wire I cut off. The worst part about it is that I don't have a fuse on my truck, so here I was, some dumb-looking 16 year old kid, driving a rebuilt old car, with smoke pouring out of the cab. Of course I had the hood opened and was trying to pry off the terminal, but that still took 10-15 second to happen. By now, I was just hoping that without the battery that I could pop the clutch in reverse on the hill about twenty feet behind me. Nope. People seemed to show no sense in slowing down at the 8k lb truck rolling backwards down a neighborhood hill. The truck didn't start anyway. After looking at it for a while, I realized there was no power going to the spark plugs. That was the bummer. Then I had to call dad to pick me up because my main car was stuck at the shop where I usually keep the truck. Currently, my truck is parked in front of my neighbors house, and I'm going to have to go there tomorrow and fix it.

Guess I learned my lesson about having a fuse or battery switch... Although It's ironic because on my second truck I already have both of those installed...
