Fun with tie rod ends

The other day I noticed that the tie rod ends on the 6x6 were loose. The nuts were tight, but the tie rod bolts were loose in the knuckle castings. With a little effort we were able to get the castle nuts off, and drop the tie rod.

My fear is that the loose bolts have wallowed out the tapered holes in the knuckle castings. Looking at the bottoms of the tapered holes, they don't appear to be out of round, but I haven't measured them with calipers.

If the holes are indeed damaged, has anyone found a good repair to this, other than replacing the knuckles? I was thinking of forming up some soft copper cones that might fill the voids.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
