Keep your truck and cargo under 26,000 and you will be okay, if you are gonna use it commercially you'll need to get "Authority" from the DOT and pay a tax in your state based on the max you wanna haul. But if you are a weekend recreational hailer you just can keep the weight down. Throw your sleeper onto the truck and haul it down to a scale, then you will know how much cargo you can carry w/o a CDL.
