Well, I think that I understand your question a little better now. You want to know if the winch is engaged and the drive axles are engaged then are they working at the same ground speed. MAYBE? There are too many variables. What range is the t-case? What gear is the transmission(shifting transmission will change the ground speed of both equally)? What size tires(axle gears)? What layer of cable are you pulling off of? What capacity winch do you have(gear ratio change)? See what I mean. I guess the best way to check wouls be on a flat surface(dirt) . Attach the cable to a stationary object and start winching in gear. If the cable gets slack in it, then the whell speed is faster, If the wheels skid the winch is faster. Under normal circumstances it is best to use only the winch to extract yourself. Turning the tires will result in the truck becoming more stuck in lots of circumstances. If this becomes absolutely necessary then your tires will more than likely be spinning while the load is on the cable. I don't see why your knuckle would have fallen victim but I guess that it is a possible result. I hope that this helps. If you need more information then futher clarify.

Good luck\
Dan
