I had a similar experience with my 55. A number of things came into play. In the end I replaced my coil which needed to have an external resistor. The external resistor had been by-passed temporarily and had burned the existing coil. Truck would start run fine for 20 minutes then die. As time went by the truck would run for a reduced period and die. Be hard to start, then start well once the coil cooled. It acted flooded the whole time. Finally got to the point where it did not want to start at all. I replaced the coil, points, condesor, wires and it started on the first crank. Hope this helps.
