I have a '47 WDX with the 230 engine.
1) does it have the hardened valve seats?
2) How about sodium filled valves?
3) What is the weak point of the engine? (bearings, rods, etc.)
4) What is the actual redline of this engine?
What is the maximum sustained RPM?
5) Is there any way to improve the engine oiling?

I need to know just what this engine can take. I am just toying with a few ideas I thought of. Don't laugh at me please this actually sounds reasonable. A long time mechanic friend and another PW owner told my how easy it would be to install a turbo into this engine. He has a source on old Chrystler 318 turbos for about 60 bucks each. He offered to help with installation. Carb and everything would stay origonal. This would give that great lugging power of the engine with a nice boost when you need to get up a hill faster than 10 MPH. Since it doesn't kick in until 1500 or so.
This should also give engine better MPG
If ever called for, this modification could be removed fairly easily and the truck would be back to origonal.
