Personally, I like the cast rings. They do wear faster. Have you specific experience with a set of cast rings wearing out way too fast, ie far faster than say the valve seats/guides, cam lobes/lifters? I haven't, but then I don't run my engines much more than 2K-5K miles a year either.
For me, cast rings seat easily and correctly, wear evenly from cylinder to cylinder and last long enough. Of course, I have only used them in my 'old' rebuilds where I would rather the rings to wear more than the block, and are not daily drivers. I'm not a fan of top-end rebuilds, I like to freshen up the whole engine if major parts are worn. So long as the rings are living as long as the other parts, I'm happy.
