Trip,
I collected an Offenhauser dual carb intake, (exhude honed and polished then jet hot coated), a pair of carbs and linkage, Fenton cast Iron headers, (also honed/polished and jet hot coated), a pair of beehive air cleaners, and had a chance to get a finned aluminum head; and was set to do the same for my 230. I talked with the engine builder...he'd done many a flathead and said with decking the block and doing everything correctly...studs etc. I would end up with about 175 or so hp. It would cost about $3,000.00 to do so...but wouldn't last in hard usage.
He then said that a rebuilt 318 with an Edelbrock carb/intake and a RV cam would give me 200 hp and be dead on reliable.
What would you do?
Eddie
