Not much more to it. I learned the concept from a guy that drove an Oakland V-8 from Texas to California in the thirties. He threw a rod west of Gallup and pared it down to a V-6 . He said it got him to Barstow and a friend's place where he could fix it proper. He said it was so rough , hitchhikers wouldn't ride with him for long.
