you could hook a battery up; to the donor engines and see if they have any compression. if that is not posssible then I would tow it home as most engines htat have been sitting too long and especially if been sitting outside then they are probably full of problems and wont run right. head gasket, rings and maybe rod bearings would only total about 100 bucks and be an easy shop floor install before heading out with an engine. I would bring extra oil and water in case you spring a leak somewhere wiht new engine, definitely bring the manual, starting fluid, timing light, feeler gauges, giant chisel or punch if you have to take off the crank pulley and do not have the correct socket, gasket sealer, and I use copper spray a gasket on head gaskets, or any metal colored spray paint works too.
