Don't you use the threaded holes in the drum to push the drum off the hub?

I've never had any problem separating these. Are your Northeast trucks so rusty, or drums so wore out that the shoes prevent this mehtod from working?

I have often praised the designers for building the easiest truck to work on there could possibly be. Those little square-headed bolts stored in the end of the axle shaft are specifically for threading it into the drum and pushing against the flange of the hub. Aren't they?
