I had a similar experience.
The first local show I went to (last summer) was billed as a "car and truck" show.
My PW was the only stock truck there. There was one other truck that was newer and rodded a bit.
Everything else were street rods or muscle cars.
The PW got a great deal of attention, as much attention as any of the muscle cars or street rods. But, come trophy time only the muscle cars or street rods won anything. The categories were all along the lines of "most attractive ...". How can a PW compete with a GTO if the only criteria is "most attractive"? haha
I did not go there specifically to get a trophy, and the people attending were genuinely interested in the PW. However I am inclined to not go there again. I did not like the feel I got that the show was "rigged" to reward the locals in the "club". If they had said street rod/ muscle car show, I would have been o.k. with it, but don't say car and truck when it is bogus.
