The biggest thing with these spot welders is to make sure the metal is tight together. Ant air gaps and it'll blow the metal away or won't stick. You don't really want to rely on the welder to be your "Vise-Grip" to bring it together as the longer arms flex. The big factory ones are strong enough to avoid this.
I normally hammer dolly to hear the ring before attempting to spot it. Have fun, Kevin
