I'm at the other end of the spectrum. I have 2 100 amp services here, one for the house and the other for the outbuidings. They were allready in place and didn't want to pay the $1000.00 + for all the permits and such. Working alone I only have one situation where it "could" be a problem. Lights running(15amp), plasma cutter running(70 amps), and air compressor kicks on(36 amp) could throw the main but Flip the compressor of to avoid it when cutting.

I only have single phase available here so I've made up two phase converters. One 1 1/2 HP and one 10 HP so I'm set on that now.

Another thing to consider is ceiling height. I have 14 ft ceiling with 12 foot door on the shop which is REAL nice for cab lifting and working on backhoes/tractors and such. Be mindful to watch what size garage door you put in as you don't want to have to air down or change wheels to get your truck in.
