CNN is coded (written) to only be 1024 pixels wide, centered in the display. The "Ctrl" plus the "+" key will zoom in, and you can use it several times to fill your screen width.
NOAA, is also coded to only be 1024 wide, but left justified. The same zoom function will work on it as well.
HTML writers do this for a common appearance on all systems/screens.
