Hi Gary,
I do on a sn=mall scale what you are considering. I am a renovation Contractor by trade, and have a small parts business on the side. I make enough money selling parts to enjoy my Power Wagon hobby, but that is about it. Most of the money I make goes into buying more trucks, or keeping my Power Wagons fixed up. Shipping large parts is expensive. I have a cabinet shop, and can whip up a wooden box faster than I can scrounge up a cardboard one, but that is only because of my contracting business. I imagins shipping would be really steep from Alaska.
The biggest negative see though, is that M-37 parts do not command the same prices that Power Wagon parts do. The Govt. bought soo many spares for these trucks, that many are still easily available NOS. This seems to keep the prices for used parts down. Now if you start finding orphaned Power Wagons, it might be different.
Good luck with it if you decide to make a go of it.
Tim
