Axle U-Joints

Anyone know if I will hurt anything heating an axle shaft to remove the steering u-joint. I know axle shafts are hardened and I am a little concerned I will weaken them, but these are seized good. I dont' want to bend the ears with the press, I did this with my winch pto shaft.
