we made it through the hurricane here on long island. sandbagging my one window well that likes letting water into the basement did the trick. no power since early this morning. took 2 big fish coolers off of my boat and bought 150 lbs of block ice. contents of fridge in the coolers plus beers and drinks for the boys. have been running some lights and small items off of my spare boat group 31 battery and inverter. my boys 7 and 4 are loving it. no tv, no computer, no phone. i set up the tent in the living room. we went for a drive in the megacab this afternoon to check on the boat. lot of downed lines and fallen trees. dinner was pizza and chicken fingers heated up on the BBQ which was actually pretty good. kids make the best of it. they are actually having a ball and i don't believe they were scared at all.
going to play good old fashioned board games and then early to bed.
maybe i'll switch off the main breaker once in a while.........
