If fluid "shoots out" at the MC, then you know the pressure buildup is upstream of all the hoses and don't have to look for a collapsed hose. Most likely it's as others have said -- the pushrod not backing out far enough to let the pressure out of the relief port in the MC.

HOWEVER, twice I've had the MC lockup problem with lots of slop in the pushrod. It was due to a tiny bit of rust clogging the relief port. The relief port is drilled with a 1/8" drill part way through from the top, but the remaining part is drilled with a #72 bit, if memory serves, or at least it can be cleaned with a #72 torch tip cleaner. It's a VERY narrow hole. It doesn't take much to clog it, if there's any rust, dirt or water (creates rust) in your system. If cracking the MC brake line fitting relieves the pressure, and if it still locks up with the pushrod adjusted for lots of slop, pop the cover off the MC and see if you can get a #72 torch tip cleaner through the relief port hole.
