I have had the opportunity the last several years to speak with some of the surviving family members from some of those lost from my time. I have not had too much trouble doing so now but 30 years ago probably would have been really tough. Not as hard for me as them because for most the pain is still nearly as fresh more than 40 years later as it was in '68. For some it is nearly as difficult as being in combat themselves.
I recall the way Dad talked to me when he found I was going to VN. I didn't really understand then but do now and eventually I really understood as his oldest brother nearly did not survive his wounds during WW2.
