If it is the same as my setup out of an 87 dodge, it should be a np435 married to a np205. I know the transmission is a np435 and I think most of the gas 3/4 and 1 ton trucks were np205. This setup is great and nearly bullet proof. The starter on the bell housing is on the passenger side so there is plenty of room for a pto off the trans. There is also another option to go off the transfer case with a pto and have 4 forward speeds and 1 reverse speed. The other nice thing with this setup is that if you go to a nv4500 5 speed transmission like I did, it is only about .25 inches difference and is nearly a bolt in installation. The bad part with this setup is that you will have to make all new mounts. The v-8 conversion won't work because you have to support off the transmission for the rear motor mount since the transfer case is married. You will also need a centered rear end. I have heard of people modifying a np205 to have a side rear output, but I have never actually seen one. I think it is a good setup, but it will take some modifications to make it fit. But where would all the fun be if it just fit on the first try.
