Finally made a big step in curing a long standing bog in my slant six ' I went from a single barrel to a double barrel but still had this bog . Drove me nuts and the only way to pass anything was to sling shot which is not exactly safe .
So I went to a holley 390 4barrel and the bog was worse than ever . Out of the box was not working so I went and changed the shooters and leaned out the carb - no change .
So tonight I went from a 50 to 54 jet and kicked the shooter up to a 31 .
That sucker still bogged until I started playing with the idle screws . Cranked them out to 2 full turns and I could hear the RPM pickup and the engine seems to run smoother . Took it out and the darn thing pulls all the way to 70 . So a holley 390 turned sideways can be tuned to work on a sloped six . I am way happy .
This is all just by ear . Hopefully I can fine tune the thing once I get a decent multimeter with a tach.
Now if I could only get some decent headlights . My halogen conversion leaves a big dark spot right in the middle of the road . Fraggin pain considering I got over 250 bucks tied up in the conversion and they do not work worth beans .
