Plastigage is usually my qualifying question. If they know what it is and why it's used, then they probably know what rebuilt means. But because one guy's "rebuilt" can be another guy's jug of Motor Honey, about the only way I'm buying an engine is after hearing it run, or dropping the pan to have a look for myself.
Unless I'm buying out of a yard. Those are a crap shoot, no matter how many miles are on it...
