I watched the 1940 movie "The Grapes of Wrath" last week, and noticed they were paying a dime or fifteen cents for a gallon of gas or a loaf of bread, and a camp site cost 50 cents. Now, if you take that same 1930s (silver) dime today, you can still buy a gallon of gas or a loaf of bread, because it is worth about $4. The biggest message to me is that our dollar is worthless. I am still stewing over that movie - so many parallels to our present day are disturbing. Like economic slavery. One difference is that in the movie, the federal government was sort of looking out for the little guy, whereas now it seems to be protecting the corporations at our expense. Oh, well, like Ma Joad says at the end, the people will keep on going because we are tough from experiencing adversity. I am afraid we are going to find out soon.
Dodge content? - I am getting antique vehicle insurance for my '53 B3 FFPW since it is less expensive, AND, it looks alot like an Oakie truck right out of the dustbowl!
