Take out the #1 spark plug .
Rotate the crank until you feel air or compression at the number # 1 spark plug hole.
Line up the timing marks on the front pulley .
undo the 3/8 bolt that holds down the distributer - you can take the distributer cap off and leave the spark plug leads hooked up .
Find the clearance between the plastic drive gear and the bottom of the shaft - use a feeler guage
Remove the old gear , if you need to drill the new gear drill one side only then mount the gear on the shaft and drill the other side of the plastic gear .
Now stick the distributer back in the block and line up the rotor with the #1 tower on the cap .
The rest of the set up is pretty standard . You should check and make sure the distributer shaft is rotating .
