The little stud that it attaches to that I thought was on the bottom of the manifold is really on top of the stock fuel pump. Of course this truck, like most, doesn't have the stock fuel pump any more.

As for the insulation, I was thinking along the same lines. I have a roll of 3/8" fiberglass braided electrical insulation I thought would be perfect until I realized it won't go over the nuts on the end of the fuel line. Your stuff sounds even better, but if a guy has to make up new fuel lines to get it on, it won't be very popular. We either need something that will expand enough to go over the tubing nuts, or we're stuck with some sort of spiral-wrap. There's also the old-timer's standby -- clothes pins clipped all along the line.

Based on my troubles, I think it's not enough to just insulate the fuel line, though. You really need that heat shield to keep the manifold heat from radiating onto the fuel pump itself.
