One more back on the road

52 FFPW. I bought this thing fall 2006 from the estate of a friend of my father who had passed at age 87. Believed to have been last been started in 1994. Last registered in 1979. Towed out of a barn where it had been settling for a decade plus. All glass broken, pigeon droppings much of an inch thick.

Its been filling up my garage, and my spare time, for six years now, so this summer, ready or not, I bought insurance and plates. Logged 12.5 miles on the odometer, then took a break to replace the head gasket.

Back on he road two days now, have added another 27 miles to the odometer, in between massaging the leaking connections to the oil filter canister. Think I've got that fixed and might be getting 50 miles per quart of engine oil now, and maybe 100 per pint of gear lube.

I know I should get inside the front hubs and pull the engine to clean out the pan and check out the bottom. I hoping to have fun and put a couple hundred miles on it this summer.

I'll invite suggestions on this worry - she sounds good except when pulling over 70% torque, then hearing a load knock/metallic clatter when going uphill. I'm guessing play in a main bearing or connecting rod bearing. I'd like to ignore this and have fun for a couple hundred miles this summer, I'll take it apart this winter. Am I a fool who's likely to end up with a broken rod through the side of the block?

It feels so good when I get the double-clutching right three times in a row.
My 15 year old kid called for a ride. Picked him up in the 52FFPW. His friends saw it. Says its the most embarrassing thing I've ever done to him.
