Check the fat end in the hole first to see if there's any extra scale build up, it should just start into the hole, look for any old tube pieces with a torch, pay particular attention to where the small end is supported. If all looks good they normally tap in easy. A piece of dowel or broom handle helps to clean things up - you can attach coarse emery cloth and even pre-drill the end on an angle and put a self drilling screw so it sticks out the end on an angle to clean up the back section. Take your time and don't hit it too hard or you will be looking for another tube.
