The squish is the whole area above the piston.

Unless that is the 'quench' . In which case the squish would be the tapered part of the combustion chamber. It will still be tapered, right into the 'quench'.

I've never cc'd one of these heads. So I don't know which head would be 'small chamber'. 201? 218? I do know that some head numbers were used on both 218 and 230, so I wouldn't think much difference there. Though I THINK some 218s were smaller.

The ultimate factory head was circa '59, maybe 57-59. Casting # 1676337, or maybe 1616823. It was not only the highest compression, but also has the chamber shaped to fit closer to the valves. It breathed better that way, as well as the higher comp.

I guess, if I had my druthers, I'd run the highest casting number I could find. I currently have three engines, all 1311804-x. Later is greater?
