The point of running an oversize carb is to get a bigger gulp of mix when the driver nails the throttle. Faster throttle response, but minimal gain in hp- unless the stock carb is waaay too small. like mine was. With our engine's low performance design, I doubt the throttle response will ever get 'good'.

Many of the newer one bbls are not only bigger than our stock ones, they have a better internal design, better atomization, so better performance and/or economy.

I think, overall, I'd go with a one bbl form the 60-70s, with choke linkage. You may have to file the mounting holes out a bit to make it fit the studs. And linkage may be a pita to make work, but that would be an inexpensive junk yard purchase. Carb and air filter, get some linkage too, probably less than $50.
