You see, I can't just go out and buy something else to drive for the "comfort". After I paid our bills this week, we had $122 in the bank. I'm not 50, 60, 70 or even 40 years old and want to cruise around on the weekends in my "that's when they made real trucks" nostalgiamobile. To those who do, enjoy it- your life's hard work has earned it. I'd wish to do nothing less than the same. However, I USE my truck every day. I take my son everywhere with me- what happens if I can't stop fast enough from hitting the car in front of me because I wanted to stay "totally original" because my truck would be less desirable to someone instead of thinking about both their and my son's safety? I'll have my truck until the day I die. I don't care what it's worth- the joy my son gets from riding in it is worth more than ten of it to me. I love the looks and simplicity of the truck. But I also want to be able to fix it in a couple of days if something goes wrong. I can't afford to pay to replace some of the parts on my truck, were they to break today. To those who cry foul when someone wants to change something functionally for the better, great. Yay. For me, I have life to do right now. I can wait to reminisce when my job is done. If you've paid your dues, you can armchair judge all you want. I'll listen in 30 years.
