Rick,
I was at the super bowl at Joe Robbie stadium in 1993? when the news chopper 10 crashed right across from the stadium. It was the Thursday before the game, we were setting up for the game. I watched the whole thing develop in sort of slow motion. The next day newspaper said the main rotor driveshaft broke, effectively cutting his power. He autorotated and "landed" in the backyard of a house. He hit the ground so hard that the tips of the rotor blades dug into the dirt.
All three walked out, so I guess he done good.
