I use a die grinder with a cut off wheel, and grind away the side that will be scrapped. I need to wear my up-close glasses to see the parting line.

That way you can grind the spot away completely but leave the layer underneath complete.Not much help if you want to remove a part, straighten, and replace, since it detroys the top layer.

Hey, do spot welders work if weld through primer is used?
